Scorpio came to us from Xtraordindairy in Wisconsin, a breeder whose emphasis on conformation and high production won us over. His dam, Soldier Mountain Masqerade, was in the ADGA top ten in 2015, pumping out 5380 lbs at the #6 spot as a two-year-old. His sire, Wind Ridge Vesuvius is an ELITE buck in the 94th percentile in 2019 and out of national champions on both sides. His sire's sire is also an ELITE buck in the 89th percentile in 2019. He descends from some of Redwood Hill's and Tempo Aquila's top does. Scorpio is an upstanding buck with strength and width through his chest and rump. Scorpio helped us build on the foundation of strong milk production we gained through the Mamm-Key bucks and has improved the physical poise and general apperance of our herd.

Lazy-Lady-Farm’s Cepphus grylle
We acquired Cepphus in 2014 as a buckling from one of Lazy-Lady-Farm’s top-producing does and a Mamm Key buck, Tripper. His sire's dam made the ADGA top ten in milk production and top ten for fat and protein as well. His sire's sire has numerous accolades including top ranking offspring in production and conformation. We love the udders we are getting in his offspring.

Mamm-Key Thingy's Romeo
Romeo is a result of Mamm-Key Farm’s proven breeding between Thingy and Tara, a pairing the farm has continued for three years due to the exceptional mix of characteristics yielded. “Tara gives the strength and Thingy gives the dairyness.” Thingy is doubled up on Royal’s Legacy’s side, a doe with an udder that produced 5000 pounds of milk and held up over time. Romeo's sire's sire is an ELITE buck in the 98th percentile in 2019 and his sire, Thingy, is an ELITE buck in the 97th percentile in 2019. Romeo has sired some beautiful, deep-bodied does with great production.

Athena was one of our favorite does. She was one of our original herd members, born at Lazy-Lady-Farm. Although her peak was lower than some of our other does, she was the most consistent over the course of the milking season. She was a late-season champion, contributing more than her fair share to our autumn cheeses. She had a great udder, even after 6 milking seasons.
Lazy-Lady-Farm's Artemis
born 3/30/08 at Lazy Lady Farm
Lazy-Lady-Farm's Demeter
born 3/30/08 at Lazy Lady Farm
Demeter was one of our all-time favorite does. She had a calm and gentle demeanor and a super-productive udder. Her offspring have all proven to be excellent additions to our herd. After a very difficult birthing in 2012 she was retired as a milking doe.

born 2/23/08 at Roeburn Farm

Hestia holds the record for all time most milk production over the course of her tenure at Sage Farm. She was a smart girl and a hardy milker. She had a wide and deep barrel and an udder that held up well over time. She did not give us as many doelings as we might have wished for, but her legacy lives on through Starburst. She was bred out of season in 2017 and moved on to continue milking at another farm through the winter of 2017/2018.

Heidi was just as lovely as her dam, Demeter. Heidi’s udder attachment showed improvement over her dam’s without compromising the size and productivity of the udder. In the 2015 season she was bred late and had a very short milking season here at Sage Farm before moving on to continue milking at another farm.
Sage Farm Tyra Banks
born 3/20/09
Tyra inherited her dam Athena’s shapely udder and also milked evenly over the course of the season. Tyra’s is our favorite doe Gertrude’s dam.

Sage Farm Ophelia
born 3/16/11
Ophelia was a gorgeous girl from our Roeburn doe, Kristi. Ophelia followed in her mother’s footseps as the herd queen. She was strong and deep-bodied and birthed some amazing girls. She was our first doe in 2016 to surpass the 3000 lb mark. Ophelia died in early May 2017 from metabolic issues. This was a very hard loss for us and we continue to look for her best qualities in some of her offspring.

Sage Farm Gertrude
born 3/17/11
Gertrude was one of our favorite all-time milkers. She is a large doe with a strong build. She was one of our first does to surpass the 3000 lb. milking mark in 2016 and did again in 2017. She was a friendly, wonderful goat. In 2019 we decided not to breed her and she will move on to a retirement farm.

Sage Farm Clover
born 3/2/12
Clover is the last doe we kept out of our Harmody sire Ned. Clover had a nice high peak in milk production, a beautiful black glossy coat, and a great udder. She also seems to have a good degree of resistance to internal parasites- we have never needed to worm her. She tended to throw triplets. Her feet and legs were beautiful and her muscle tone held up extremely well as she aged.

A Sage Farm favorite, Malawi is long and deep and resembles her grand dam, Demeter, in both her sweet personality and her generous milk production. She could have better udder attachment. She peaked at over 14 lbs in 2017 and easily passed the 3000 lb. mark, despite freshening a bit late, leaving her with a short lactation. In October of 2018 she was still milking 11 lb. per day. We robbed her of another 3000+ lb season in 2019 after switching to once-a-day milking. 2020 was a good year for Malawi despite freshening in late March- she peaked at 15# and was still milking 12#/day through September. Sadly Malawi had a difficult birthing experience in 2021 and her milk never came in. She moved to a retirement farm.

Sage Farm Martha Sherman (Ickenspick)
Icky is one of our first milkers out of Cepphus. She is a petite doe with a high and compact udder. She peaked over 12 lbs as a 2nd-year milker and has nice components too. She seems to throw the most gorgeous kids every year. In 2020 Icky made the 3000# club- and a milk peak just under 16#. In 2021 Icky sustained a leg injury and we decided not to rebreed her.

Sage Farm Vega
Vega was a wonderful milking doe out of our Roeburn line. Her flaw was that when her milk came in, it came in quickly, making her susceptible to early lactational metabolic issues. An acidotic episode left her with severe laminitis in 2022 and we had to put her down. She graced us with several amazing years in the parlor.
